Children's Ombudsperson's Office hosts first-ever Regional Consultation Conference for Child Rights Institutions of South Asia in the Maldives
With the initiation of the UNICEF Regional Office for South Asia (UNICEF ROSA), the Children's Ombudsperson's Office, in collaboration with UNICEF Maldives, successfully hosted the first-ever regional consultation conference for child rights institutions of South Asia in the Maldives. The two-day conference was officially inaugurated by First Lady Fazna Ahmed. This conference, for the first time, brings together key institutions from seven South Asian region countries, which respectively include Bangladesh, Bhutan, India, Maldives, Nepal, Pakistan, and Sri Lanka. In addition, the conference was attended by heads of state institutions working for the welfare of children, child representatives from the Maldives, and UNICEF participants.
The primary objective of this conference is to bring together key child rights institutions of South Asian countries and to provide them with a platform to foster a deeper comprehension of the mandates and functions of various child rights institutions in the region. Through country sharing, participants will engage in discussions to identify opportunities for cross-regional learning and collaboration. The conference also aims to outline a set of activities for joint regional actions, promoting collaboration among independent child rights institutions. The conference facilitates the exchange of knowledge among child rights institutions across the region, with the goal of building capacity and enhancing the collective understanding of promoting, exchanging best practices, and strengthening collective efforts toward promoting and protecting child rights.
The conference will be held from June 19th to 20th at Bandos Maldives Resort. Throughout the event, each country will discuss its collective experiences with child rights protection systems, and presentations will be delivered to share insights and information. In addition, child representatives from Maldives will actively participate in the consultation, ensuring that their voices are well represented throughout the process. Their contributions will include incorporating their valuable perspectives and opinions on matters related to child rights.
The conference will culminate with the formulation of a 'Joint Action Plan' that specifically focuses on independent institutions dedicated to promoting child rights in the South Asian region. This comprehensive plan will incorporate a timeline of activities to be undertaken at the regional level. Also, a compiled report of the country presentations by participating agencies will be presented.
ޔުނިސެފް ރީޖަނަލް އޮފީސް ފޮރ ސައުތު އޭޝިއާގެ އިސްނެގުމުގެ މަތިން ޔުނިސެފް މޯލްޑިވްސްއާއި ޗިލްޑްރަންސް އޮމްބަޑްސްޕަރސަންގެ އޮފީހާ ގުޅިގެން ރާއްޖޭގައި ފުރަތަމަ ފަހަރަށް "ރީޖަނަލް ކޮންސަލްޓޭޝަން - ޗައިލްޑް ރައިޓްސް އިންސްޓިޓިއުޝަންސް އޮފް ސައުތު އޭޝިއާ" ގެ ނަމުގައި ކޮންފަރެންސެއް ބާއްވައިފިއެވެ. ދެ ދުވަހުގެ މުއްދަތަށް ބަނޑޮސް މޯލްޑިވްސްގައި ކުރިޔަށްގެންދާ މި ކޮންފަރެންސް ރަސްމީކޮށް ފައްޓަވައިދެއްވީ ރައީސުލްޖުމްހޫރިއްޔާގެ އަނބިކަނބަލުން ފަޒްނާ އަހްމަދެވެ. މި ކޮންފަރަންސްގައި ދެކުނު އޭޝިއާ ސަރަހައްދުގެ ގައުމުތަކުގެ ކުޑަކުދިންގެ ޙައްޤުތަކަށް މަސައްކަތް ކުރާ މިނިވަން މުއައްސަސާތަކުގެ އިސްވެރިން ބައިވެރިވެވަޑައިގެންފައިވެއެވެ. މި ކޮންފަރެންސް މެދުވެރިކޮށް ފުރަތަމަ ފަހަރަށް ދެކުނު އޭޝިއާ ސަރަހައްދުގެ ހަތް ގައުމުކަމަށްވާ ބަންގްލަދޭޝް، ބޫޓާން، އިންޑިއާ، ރާއްޖެ، ނޭޕާލް، ޕާކިސްތާން އަދި ސްރީލަންކާގެ ކުޑަކުދިންގެ ޙައްޤުތަކަށް މަސައްކަތްކުރަމުންދާ ކަމާގުޅުންހުރި މުހިއްމު މުއައްސަސާތައްވަނީ އެއްތަނަކަށް ގެނެސްދީފައެވެ. މި ކޮންފަރެންސްގައި ރާއްޖޭން ބައިވެރިވެފައިވަނީ ކުޑަކުދިންގެ މަސްލަޙަތަށް މަސައްކަތްކުރާ ދައުލަތުގެ މުޢައްސަސާތަކުގެ އިސްވެރިންނާއި ރާއްޖޭގެ ފަރާތުން ބައިވެރިވާ ކުޑަކުދިންނާއި ޔުނިސެފްގެ އިސްވެރިންނެވެ.
މި ކޮންފަރެންސްގެ މައިގަނޑު މަޤްޞަދަކީ ދެކުނު އޭޝިއާ ސަރަހައްދުގެ ގައުމުތަކުގެ ކުޑަކުދިންގެ ޙައްޤުތަކަށް މަސައްކަތްކުރާ އެކިއެކި މުއައްސަސާތަކުގެ މަސައްކަތްތައް ދެނެގަނެ، އެއް މުއައްސަސާއަކުން އަމަލުކުރަމުންދާ ގުޑް ޕްރެކްޓިސަސް އަނެއް މުއައްސަސާތަކުން ބަލައިގަތުމާއި ދަސްކުރުމާއި، އެކުގައި މަސައްކަތްކުރެވޭނެ ވެއްޓެއް ގާއިމުކުރުމުގެ ފުރުޞަތު ފަހިކުރުމެވެ. މި ކޮންފަރެންސުގައި ކޮންމެ ޤައުމަކުންވެސް އެ ގައުމެއްގެ ކުޑަކުދިންގެ ޙައްޤުތައް ޙިމާޔަތްކުރުމަށް ހުރި ނިޒާމުތަކާއި ތަންފީޒުކުރުމުގައި ކުރެވުނު ތަޖުރިބާތައް ހިއްސާކުރެވިގެންދާނެއެވެ. މީގެ އިތުރުން، މި ކޮންފަރެންސް މެދުވެރިކޮށް ސަރަހައްދީ ފެންވަރުގައި ކުޑަކުދިންގެ ޙައްޤުތައް ރައްކާތެރިކުރުމަށް ބައިވެރިވާ މުއައްސަސާތަކުގެ މެދުގައި ކުރެވިދާނެ ކަންތައްތަކާއި ސަރަހައްދީ ފެންވަރުގައި ފޯރުކޮށްދެވޭނެ ތަމްރީނުގެ ފުރުޞަތުތަކާއި، މުސްތަޤްބަލުގައި މިފަދަ މުއައްސަސާތަކާދެމެދު ގުޅުން ބަދަހިކުރެވޭނެ ދާއިރާތަކާގުޅޭ ގޮތުން މަޝްވަރާކުރެވިގެންދާނެއެވެ.
އެގޮތުން ކޮންމެ ޤައުމަކުންވެސް އެ ގައުމެއްގެ ކުޑަކުދިންގެ ޙައްޤުތަކާބެހޭ ނިޒާމުތަކާއި، ކްރޮސް ރީޖަނަލް ކޮލަބްރޭޝަންގެ ދާއިރާއިން މިހާރު ލިބެމުންދާ ކުރިއެރުންތަކާއި، މުސްތަޤްބަލުގައި ސަރަހައްދީ ފެންވަރުގައި ގުޅިގެން މަސައްކަތް ކުރެވިދާނެ ދާއިރާތަކަށް ބިނާކޮށް ކޮންމެ ގައުމަކުންވެސް އެ ގައުމެއްގެ ކަރުދާސް ހުށަހަޅާނެއެވެ. ކުޑަކުދިންގެ ޙައްޤުތަކާ ގުޅުންހުރި ކަންކަމުގައި އެކުދިންގެ އަގުހުރި ނަޒަރިއްޔާތާއި ޚިޔާލުތައް ހުށަހަޅައި، ކުދިންގެ ކަންކަން ނިންމުމުގައި އެ ކުދިންގެ ރައުޔު ހިމެނުމުގެ މުހިއްމުކަން ފާހަގަކޮށް، މި ކޮންފަރެންސްގައި ބައިވެރިވާ ކުދިންގެ ފަރާތުން ކަރުދާހެއް ހުށަހެޅިގެންދާނެއެވެ.
މި ކޮންފަރެންސް ނިމިގެންދާނީ ދެކުނު އޭޝިއާ ރީޖަންގެ ގައުމުތަކުގެ ކުޑަކުދިންގެ ޙައްޤަށް މަސައްކަތްކުރާ މިނިވަން މުއައްސަސާތަކަށް ޚާއްޞަކޮށްގެން "ޖޮއިންޓް އެކްޝަން ޕްލޭން"އެއް އެކުލަވާލުމަށް ފަހުއެވެ. މި ޕްލޭންގައި ސަރަހައްދީ ފެންވަރުގައި ކުރިއަށް ގެންދިއުމަށް ހަމަޖެހިފައިވާ ހަރަކާތްތަކުގެ ޓައިމްލައިނެއް ހިމެނިގެންދާނެއެވެ. އަދި ބައިވެރިވާ ޤައުމުތަކުން ކޮންފަރެންސަށް ހުށަހަޅާ ކަރުދާސްތަކާއި ޕްރެޒެންޓޭޝަންތައް ހިމެނޭ ރިޕޯޓެއް އެކުލަވާލެވިގެންދާނެއެވެ
